You're the one who remembers. Marley's humus toasties. You run the lines with Medby. You make the costumes. You make the 10,000 snacks. You keep us all together.

This is the last Mother's Day before he leaves. Two weeks from eighteen, a few months from Syracuse. Whatever the next chapter looks like, the foundation is already poured — and you poured most of it.
He has your fire, your heart. Your caring for others. That came from you.
Whatever he becomes up there, he becomes it because you raised him. Watching that has been one of the great privileges of my life.
He thinks the sun rises and sets on his mama. He's right.
You are his cushion — the voice he calls for in the morning, the one he wants for sleepies, the person who can fix almost anything just by being in the room. With Medby pulling toward the door this year, Marley has needed his mama close. And you've been right there. You always are.
He's going to remember being loved by you for the rest of his life. That's the gift you give him every single day, without ever making it look like a gift.

You build constantly — and most of what you build is for other people. The shop. The photography business. Caring for your mother. A whole home that runs on your attention.
The shop closed this year, and that's not nothing. You poured years into the store. What you made there — the warmth, the eye, the way customers felt seen the second they walked in — none of that goes away. It just goes into whatever you build next.
That's a kind of love that builds people. And it's built us.
You are the heart of everything we have. There's no version of this life I want without you in the middle of it.
Thank you for being Medby's mama as he gets ready to leave. Thank you for being Marley's mama as he holds onto you a little tighter this year. Thank you for being mine, through every move and every hard year and every good one.
